Speed Post by D: Lone Star Le Mans Race Being Aired Today

The Lone Star Le Mans road race at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas is airing right now on Fox Sports.  This race is in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship series.  The Corvette Racing team, driving two C7.R racecars, is the overall points leader in the GTLM class for the season to date.

Random Photo of the Month: C7 Stingrays at the All Corvette Show in Lincoln, Nebraska

This row of C7 Corvette Stingrays were on display today at the All Corvette Show in Lincoln, Nebraska.  There were 21 C7 Corvettes at the show, a mix of coupes and convertibles. Many other cars of all generations were present including a nice selection of survivor C1s.

The show was organized by the Nebraska Corvette Association.  Lunch was catered in by The Garage Sports Bar & Grill--a pulled pork sandwich, chips, and a soda for $5.

Random Photo of the Month: Zip Line Corvette at Road America

I took this pic at the Road America race track during the Tudor United Sportcar race weekend in early August.  The Corvette is a C7 coupe above was one of the pace cars used during the event.  Nice car.

The zip line tower in the background is a new attraction at the track for 2014.  Race fans saw frequent "zippers" making the zip line trek from the Lion's Club concession stand to the end point  in the picture above near the Hawk tunnel.

Random Photo of the Month: 2007 Indianapolis 500 Corvette Pace Car

The Corvette has been selected as the pace for the Indianapolis 500 eleven times.  The photo above is a replica of the 2007 C6 pace car driven by Patrick Dempsey in the race.  Only 500 pace car replicas were produced for the 2007 model year.

The photo was taken at a Corvette show in Kansas City in 2012.

Random Photo of the Month: The 60th Anniversary Collector Edition Corvette

The special edition 60th anniversary model of the Corvette was offered for the 2013 model year as a 427 Convertible Collector Edition. 

The car is equipped with a 7.0 liter LS7 small block engine that gets 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds.  In addition to being fast, the car is attractive with an eye-catching artic white exterior with pearl silver blue racing stripes.  Special badging, shown above, completes the look to commemorate 60 years.

A beautiful day to be sight-seeing in Kansas City.  Took this pic of my husband's C5 Corvette in front of the World War I Museum in August 2012.  There's a nice overlook behind the spire that gives a scenic view of the city.  Definitely, a recommended view.
